larger Rhacodactylus with a long prehensile tail and slender build. May be covered with spots or have a banded pattern.

Greater Rough-snouted Gecko
Rhacodactylus trachynrhynchus trachyrhynchus
Distribution: Southern New Caledonia
Description: The
larger relative of the Lesser Rough-snouted Gecko. Stocker body with a shorter and wider head when compared to trachycephalus.
Olive green to yellow green. This is the largest living live-bearing gecko in the world!
Amelanistic Fat-tailed Gecko
Hemitheconyx caudicinctus
Distribution: West Africa
Description: A stocky gecko with a fat-tail.
Has alternating darker and lighter bands. Amelanistic specimens can have tangerine bands on a kahki to white background.
Patternless Fat-tailed Gecko
Hemitheconyx caudicinctus
Distribution: West Africa
Description: A recessive mutation
where all of the darker bands are missing resulting in a "patternless" fat-tailed geckos. Just imagine a completely tangerine
fat-tail when this morph is mixed with the amelanistic gene. A very interesting mutation!
Common Gecko
Hoplodactylus maculatus
Distribution: Widespread throughout New Zealand
Description: A stocky gecko with
a thick tail. Colors include shades of brown, grey, yellow and olive green. Darker spots found throughout. May have
a dark-edged dorsal stripe or a mottled pattern. Eyes are dark.
Aside from Australian geckos, we do keep a few other species of interest. Three of them are livebearing and are from New Zealand and New Caledonia. Hoplodactylus maculatus is both arboreal and terrestrial. They like to spend their time resting under peices of bark on the ground. Both species of Rhacodactylus trachyrhynchus are mainly arboreal and are a bit reclusive by nature although they have become more adventurous with time and some handling. We also work with the beautiful Nuu Ana Island from of Rhacodactylus leachianus henekeli, which is one of the smaller forms. The fifth species found on this page originates from Africa and we are currently working with two variants of Fat-tailed geckos: patternless and amelanistic.
New Caledonian Giant Gecko
Rhacodactylus lechianus "henkeli"
Distribution: Island of Nuu Ana, New Caledonia
Description: One
of the smaller forms of leachianus. Greenish-yellow background color with crisp, white blotches. Characterized by forshortened
snout and light iris. May have black speckling throughout. Some individuals also have bright yellow spots
